History of Irishiron

Irish Iron was set up in the 1994/95 season with the objective of helping Scunthorpe United financially by means of sponsorship and by attending games as regularly as possible. Membership is not limited to just those who live in Ireland; we have members all over Ireland, Britain, USA, Canada, Germany, Australia, Japan, Singapore and Peru! Membership fees for 2007/08 are £10 which gets members a Membership card,keyring and 2 limited edition members only badges post paid in the U.K. or Ireland. Irish Iron is affiliated to, and we have permission from, the club to use the crest on our own range of merchandise (Fleece jackets, sweat shirts, polo shirts, tee shirts, key rings, pens, caps etc) as all profits we make go back to Scunthorpe United in the form of Players kit sponsorship.

This coming season we will sponsor all or part of kit for all 4 Irish players plus Andy Butler who won our player of the season award twice. We present our Player of the year award at the last home game each season.Joe Murphy won last seasons award and was presented with an engraved silver plate and a presentation bottle of Irish Whiskey. With Ryanair flights into Doncaster-Sheffield from Dublin it's a lot easier to get across to games than it had been and Irish based members attend quite a few games, home and away each season.
