North
West Iron
United supporters based in the North
West can now join a regional supporters’ club.
The club has already received expressions of interest
from 20 fans based in the region, but is looking
to boost numbers further. Further details can be
obtained from Andrew Mullen: asmullen@btinternet.com
NWI was founded in the summer of
2007 inspired by the examples of SULSESC, Iron Union
and Irish Iron. At present the club has 27
members North West based fans on its circulation
list. The club was formed to bring together
fans exiled across the Pennines. The group’s
main purpose is to share information about travel
arrangements with the aim of facilitating lift shares
and get togethers before and after games.
Eleven attended the club’s first meeting in
Manchester at the end of June 2007 and a thoroughly
good time was had by all. A further meeting
is planned for the evening of Friday 7 September
in Manchester to formalise a constitution and to
gain recognition from Scunthorpe United. The
club will also set its membership fees, issue membership
cards and decide on fund raising activities and
the best use of club funds. Details of the
venue and time will be posted here as soon as they
are finalised.
Members
met up both before and after the Charlton and Burnley
games, and the fledgling club has already brought
together dedicated fans who were previously oblivious
to the fact that they were living in the same city
or town as other Iron supporters.
Anyone
interested in joining North West Iron should send
